2015 DRUID OMT PDW – Call for submissions

As part of the pre-conference activities of the DRUID conference @ LUISS, we are organizing a PDW for PhD students engaged in research in Organization and Management Theory. The PDW is sponsored by the Italian Association of Organization Scholars (ASSIOA) and co-organized by the LUISS OMT group and will be from from 9am to 12pm in June 15.

The PDW aims to provide a forum for discussion to advanced stage doctoral students in Organization and Management Theory, or related areas such as strategy, innovation, or entrepreneurship with an OMT focus. It offers doctoral students an opportunity to present their research-in-progress to and receive feedback and comments from senior faculty and editors of top management and organisation journals. We are looking for 9 paper proposals of great potential focused on questions of organization and management theory. The submitted paper proposals could potentially contribute to a large variety of research streams of organization theory including institutional logics, categories, networks, organization design, digital innovation, and organising innovation as well as other research streams. The PDW will consist of three consecutive sessions of one hour and at each session 3 papers will be presented. Each student will have 10 minutes for presentation and at the end of each session 30 minutes will be allocated for questions/feedback from the faculty. To attend the workshop, students will need to register for the

DRUID Conference and refreshments will be provided during the workshop.

In order to apply, students are expected to send a 2- page extended abstract, a 1-page résumé with the names of thesis advisor, and the name of one additional reference to the following email address: kgurses@luiss.it.

The deadline for submission of paper proposals is May 15, 2015.

A selection committee will blind review the paper proposals, rank, and select 9 of them. Preference will be given to doctoral candidates at later stages of their PhD program – those beyond or close to the thesis proposal stage.

Confirmed workshop participants include Daniel Levinthal (Wharton Business School, Editor in Chief: Strategy Science), Ann Majchrzak (University of Southern California; Senior Editor: Organization Science; Senior Editor: MIS Quarterly), Keld Laursen (Copenhagen Business School; Senior Editor: Research Policy), Americo Cicchetti (Catholic University, Rome), Marcello Martinez (Second University of Naples) and Stefano Brusoni (ETH Zurich).

The PDW is open to faculty that participate to DRUID: we expect to have a total of 10-15 professors present in the workshop to give feedback to the participants.

Please contact Kerem Gurses at kgurses@luiss.it if you have any questions. We hope to see you in Rome in June.
